The University of Aberdeen has recently received funding from the DTI for the IPAS project (Integrated Product & Servicing) project which will be carried out with Rolls-Royce, and the Universities of Cambridge, Southampton, & Sheffield. The Research will focus on the development of ontologies for these tasks, and the development of Ontology Maintenance tools.

As part of my research, I have been looking at Syntactical Consistency Evaluation in Ontologies. Our approach, called CleanONTO, is using WordNET to create path-based definition in order to assess the taxonomic relations in an ontology. I have presented my first paper at the EON06 where it received mixed reaction. The paper is available from my publication page.
