Tim Norman
Tim Norman is Professor and the Head of Computing Science (Research) in the Department of Computing Science, University of Aberdeen. He is
leader of the Aberdeen
Intelligent Software Agents Research Theme.
Prof Norman's principal research field is multi-agent
systems. He has interests in computational models of norms (or
policies) for specifying and reasoning about the ideal behaviour
of complex distributed systems. He is interested in how systems
may be monitored for compliance with norms, and how these
techniques can be applied to support for human decision making
(e.g. in collaborative planning teams). A further focus of
research interest is in computational models of argumentation,
and, in particular, formal models of
delegation, and social and dialogical commitment.
Prof Norman is Area Chair and member of the Senior Programme
Committee of
the International
Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent
Systems and member of the Programme Committee of the International
Conference on Computational Models of Argument.
